The Population Studies Unit (PSU) was set up in 1979 as part of the Population and Family Health Project funded by the World Bank and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The PSU is placed under the Dean's office of the Faculty of Economics and Administration (FEA). All academic staff of FEA shall be ordinary members of the PSU. Non-FEA academic staff of the University and members of external agencies may apply for associate membership of the PSU.
The Dean of the FEA is the chairman, and the Deputy Dean for Research and Development is the Deputy Chairman. The day-to-day running of the PSU is performed by a Coordinator appointed by the Dean. The PSU is guided by a board with members from the various faculties, government agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
